Samuel Pepys Wedding Photographer

so you're having a Samuel Pepys wedding! Here's the low down on everything you need to know

Why Choose Samuel Pepys for your Wedding

The overall vibe

The Samuel Pepys is all about riverside London charm without the fuss. Set right on the Thames in Wapping, it feels tucked away from the chaos while still being very much London. Couples choose it because it’s social, characterful and brilliant for celebrations that feel like a great get-together rather than a formal event. From a Samuel Pepys wedding photographer point of view, the light, views and atmosphere do a lot of the work for you.

Exclusive hire & guest numbers

At weekends, the entire riverside pub can be booked exclusively and is closed to the public. With full hire, the venue can accommodate up to 180 guests standing, making it ideal for lively post-ceremony celebrations. Late licences are available on request, depending on the date.

The spaces inside

Main Bar (up the spiral staircase)

A warm, relaxed space that works well for smaller sit-down dinners (35 seated) or drinks receptions (50 standing).

Globe View

Walk through the main bar and you reach Globe View — floor-to-ceiling windows, panoramic Thames views and a great setup for live bands or DJs. It seats 42 for dinner or 50 standing and really lifts the energy of the day.

Balcony Bar

This is the standout. With a balcony overhanging the river, it’s a gorgeous space for a wedding breakfast (up to 65 seated) or 90 standing. Guests always gravitate here, especially around sunset.

Food & drink

You can choose from a range of catering options, including three-course à la carte meals or finger buffets, depending on how formal (or not) you want things to feel. There are also inclusive wedding packages, offering different styles and budgets, which makes planning a lot easier.

Party details

The Samuel Pepys is licensed for live bands or DJs until 11pm, making it perfect for an energetic evening without things feeling rushed. It’s a reception-only venue, so you’ll need to plan your ceremony elsewhere and arrive ready to celebrate.

Logistics to know

There’s no on-site parking, so guests will need to use nearby options like the NCP at London Vintry Thames Exchange. Decorations can be delivered in advance and the team will set them up on the day — sending a reference photo for table styling is always a good idea.

Getting married at Samuel Pepys? I’d love to photograph it.

Samuel Pepys has that brilliant riverside London location. It’s relaxed, full of character and perfect for a wedding with great views, good drinks and a bit of sparkle. My approach is relaxed, colourful and documentary-led, capturing the real feeling of the day.
