Where to go for couple portraits in Brighton

Getting married in Brighton and wanna know the inside knowledge of all the quirky and cool spots to have your couple portraits? Then look no further my friends, as I’ve compiled a very special list for you, letting you into all of my best Brighton wedding photo locations. From epic moody beachfront skies to luscious green gardens, urban alleys, and everything in between.

The lanes

The iconic Brighton Lanes are a proper treasure trove for wedding photos, full of little nooks, colourful shop fronts, tucked-away alleyways and a brilliant urban backdrop. They’re perfect for a wander after your ceremony, especially if you want couple portraits with a bit of character and Brighton energy.

Brighton Palace Pier

This spot is full of colour and chaos (in the best possible way). Think bright lights, candy floss, arcade machines and seaside energy. It’s perfect for couples who want something a bit more fun, a bit less traditional, but still very Brighton.

West Pier

If you’re looking for something moody and cinematic, head over to the old pier for that slightly wild Brighton feeling. Dance on the pebbles, wrap yourselves up in each other, and let the sea breeze bring some of that movement for couple portraits with a bit of edge, drama and proper seaside atmosphere.

Pickup A Snack!

If you’re feeling a bit peckish after your ceremony and dinner feels miles away, Brighton has plenty of snack spots down by the beach. Whether you’re into ice cream, candy floss or a bag of chips, grab your partner, pick your snack of choice and let it become part of your story. Just keep one eye on the seagulls, they’re always on the hunt for their next meal.

GALLOPER'S CAROUSEL

Taking pride of place on Brighton seafront, the Gallopers Carousel is such a fun spot for photos full of colour, movement and childhood nostalgia. It’s perfect for couples who want something a little out of the box, playful and very unique. Whether you jump onto one of the horses or use it as a backdrop, you can’t go wrong here.

Brighton Seafront

The classic choice, but honestly, one of the most effective. Brighton’s pebbly beach has so much to offer: sea views, big skies, pops of colour, and sometimes even a few bubbles floating past. It’s the perfect place to slow down for a minute, soak in that just-married glow and have a little wander with your partner in crime. Space, sea air and just the two of you… well, maybe not in peak summer when Brighton brings in the sunseekers, but even the crowds can help create fun, lively photos.

The Promenade

Look up from the beach, and you’ll see Brighton promenade in all its glory, with those iconic turquoise railings and covered benches adding those little pops of colour along the way. With views stretching out across the sea, the skies can feel like they go on forever here. From the expanse of the seafront to architectural backdrops, take a walk down the promenade, and you’ll find that magic can happen in the most unexpected places, from reflections in puddles to a simple hand hold.

Brighton Bandstand

Brighton Bandstand is a popular choice for ceremonies, but it’s also a gorgeous spot for a few photos together. It stands loud and proud on the seafront with its intricate design, giving the two of you a beautiful little frame for getting cute and cosy. Just a heads up: if you’re not having your ceremony here, there’s a chance it may already be booked when you wander past. But if it’s free, you’re good to go.

Afloat/The Doughnut Statue

This sculpture, sitting on one of the groynes near Brighton Palace Pier, is a fun little addition to your couple portrait itinerary. Whether you stand behind it and go full James Bond, or use it as a quirky backdrop, it brings a bit of framing, a bit of joy and a very Brighton little moment to the mix.

GRab A Pint

Brighton is packed with brilliant pubs and quirky little bars, so why not stop off and quench your thirst mid-photo expedition? It’s also, obviously, a great excuse to add something a bit different and fun to your couple portraits. Sarah and Ben already had this pub in mind, so we headed there after the ceremony for photos full of colour, texture and loads of laughs.

Quirky Brighton Events

Brighton is home to loads of brilliant, sometimes slightly bonkers events throughout the year, especially in summer. So once you’ve got your wedding date, it’s worth having a little bit of research into what might be happening around the city that day. Adam and Charlie knew the Naked Bike Ride might be passing through and were not so secretly hoping we’d stumble across it. Let’s just say their dreams were very much fulfilled.

Royal Pavillion Gardens

The Royal Pavilion is right in the heart of Brighton, and so it’s an easy must-do if you’re wandering through The Lanes for couple portraits. With its dramatic domes, spires and beautiful craftsmanship, it’s a jaw-dropping backdrop to make your couple portraits very unique to Brighton. Not only do you get the stunning architecture of the Pavilion, but it’s situated in lush green gardens, which are especially gorgeous in spring and summer when everything’s blooming and feeling a little bit romantic.

Graffiti Walls

Brighton’s walls are always changing, covered in bright, colourful graffiti one minute and replaced by something completely different the next. That’s part of the fun! While you’re wandering through The Lanes and the streets around Brighton, keep your eyes peeled for those little bursts of colour and bold backdrops that can turn into your next favourite photo.

Preston Rock Gardens

Tucked beside Preston Park, Preston Rock Gardens is full of flowers, greenery, winding paths and even a little stream, giving you a softer, more romantic backdrop away from the urban city landscape. Grab your partner’s hand, pull them in close and have a little wander through all that lush, leafy goodness.

Hove Lawns & Brunswick Square

Hove Lawns

If you want a bit more space and sea air, Hove Lawns is a gorgeous spot for couple portraits. You’ve got big open skies, green lawns, the seafront and those classic Hove beach huts adding little pops of colour nearby. Perfect if you want something that feels a little calmer than the full Brighton beach mayhem.

Brunswick Square

Brunswick Square is such a hidden little gem in Hove, with its grand Regency buildings and leafy gardens. It gives you that elegant Brighton backdrop, and it’s brilliant for a slower wander, cosy little moments and portraits with a bit of old-school seaside charm.
