Seahorse Brighton Wedding Photographer

so you're having a wedding at The Seahorse in Brighton! Here's the low down on everything you need to know

Why Choose The Seahorse for your Wedding

If you’re looking for a wedding venue that feels intimate, atmospheric and very Brighton, The Seahorse is a lovely choice. Tucked away just off the seafront, it has that cosy, bright feel that works brilliantly for drinks receptions and relaxed celebrations where guests can properly settle in. The space feels warm and characterful without trying too hard, perfect if you want something stylish but low-key. Its central location makes everything easy too, with the beach, The Lanes and plenty of nearby spots for couple portraits all within walking distance. From a Seahorse Brighton wedding photographer point of view, it’s a great spot for capturing natural moments as they happen, glasses clinking, conversations flowing, and that calm-before-the-party energy. There’s great food here too if you want it, but above all, it’s a space that feels welcoming, social and effortlessly Brighton.

Choosing a Ceremony Space that’s right for your Seahorse Brighton Wedding

Upper Floor

This is the one for the wow factor. The Upper Floor is filled with natural light and curves right along the seafront, with floor-to-ceiling glass and panoramic views across Brighton beach. Booth seating is arranged around the room’s circular shape, and the wrap-around balcony (with tables and chairs). Probably one of the best views in the city.

You’ve got your own fully stocked bar, private toilets and disabled access, so once you’re up here, everything’s easily accessible.

Beach Floor

Downstairs is all about space, sea views and flexibility. This glass-fronted floor looks straight out over the beach and the remains of the Old West Pier, with two private terraces and loads of room for dining, dancing and everything in between.

The Beach Floor is split into three areas that work beautifully together:

  • East Wing – great as a quieter seated space, kids’ area or buffet setup

  • Middle space – designed for dining, with a ready-made head table and comfortable seating

  • West Wing – the party zone. Perfect for a DJ or band. Big bi-fold doors that open straight out onto the west terrace with stunning sea views

There’s a large private bar, dedicated toilets and disabled access, so it’s ideal for bigger celebrations that still feel relaxed.

West Wing (Beach Floor)

For smaller, more intimate celebrations, the West Wing can be hired on its own. It opens directly onto the west terrace via large bi-fold doors, with open views across Brighton’s seafront, perfect for drinks receptions or relaxed gatherings.

You’ll have access to a fully stocked bar, toilets and disabled access. Just worth noting that this area isn’t fully private, but it still works beautifully for laid-back celebrations.

Spots for Couple Portraits Around The Seahorse in Brighton

★ Brighton Bandstand
A proper classic. Clean lines, open space and the sea right there. It’s calm, elegant and works beautifully if you want something timeless without feeling stiff.

★ Brighton Beach
You can’t not use the beach. Pebbles underfoot, salty air, big skies and a bit of wind doing whatever it likes. It always feels real, never forced.

★ West Pier
A bit rough round the edges in the best way. The structure adds drama without you having to do anything, anytime of the day it’s an icon.

★ Brighton Seafront Carousel
Fun, nostalgic and guaranteed to make you smile. Jump on, don’t jump on, both work. Bring your sense of adventure!

★ Lifeguard booths
Bright pops of colour along the beach that instantly lift photos. Quick, easy, and very seaside.

★ The Lanes
Stroll through the twisty streets, and find your own little world within the shop fronts, graffiti-ed walls and Brighton chaos and colour.

Seahorse Wedding Venue Hire

The Seahorse is licensed to host both wedding ceremonies and receptions, making it a great option if you’d like to keep everything flowing in one place. Full in-house catering is available, along with drinks packages to suit your day, whether you’re planning something low-key or a little more celebratory. There’s also a really lovely touch in the form of a complimentary honeymoon dinner for the couple after the wedding. From a Seahorse Brighton wedding photographer’s point of view, it’s a space that feels relaxed, welcoming and easy to be in, letting the celebration unfold naturally without any fuss.

Top Tips for your Seahorse Brighton Wedding

★  Let it feel like a great night out
This isn’t a ballroom kind of venue. Think drinks flowing, people chatting, everyone comfortable and no one wondering where they’re meant to stand next.

★  Use it for the in-between moments
It’s perfect for a drinks reception, that calm pause after the ceremony, or the start of the celebrations before heading on elsewhere.

★  Don’t over-style it
Candles, a few flowers, done. The space already has loads of character and doesn’t need dressing up.

★  Embrace the location
You’re moments from the seafront and The Lanes. Pop out for ten minutes of photos and you’ve got loads of variety without disappearing.
