Duke of York's Wedding Photographer

so you're having a Duke of York's wedding! Here's the low down on everything you need to know

Why Choose Duke of York’s for your Wedding

If you’re looking for a wedding venue that’s fun, iconic and a little bit unexpected, Duke of York’s Picturehouse Cinema in Brighton should be top of your list. Perfect for couples who want something relaxed and personality-filled, it’s a venue that instantly sets your day apart.

As Brighton’s oldest cinema, Duke of York’s is packed with character. From the bold red interiors to the vintage details and dramatic stage, it’s a brilliant backdrop for a wedding ceremony that feels more like an experience. Make your vows on stage in true cinematic style, with everyone comfortably seated and fully present for the moment.

From a Duke of York’s wedding photographer’s point of view, the lighting, colour and atmosphere are a dream. The space needs very little dressing, photographs beautifully as it is, and naturally draws attention to the ceremony unfolding on stage.

Conga straight out onto Preston Circus, with Brighton streets, bars and reception venues all within easy reach. It’s ideal if you want an easy flow to your day, without complicated travel or schedules.

If you’re planning a Brighton wedding that’s relaxed, memorable and full of character, Duke of York’s Cinema is a brilliant choice and a venue that always delivers something a little bit extra.

The Space for your Duke of York Wedding

One of the nice things about Duke of York’s is that it isn’t just one room. The main screen sets the scene for your ceremony, with tiered seating and a stage that naturally focuses everyone in the room. Head upstairs and you’ll find a bar space that’s perfect for drinks, catching up, and getting those final touches ready. While the roof terrace offers a completely different feel, great for stepping outside, grabbing some air and enjoying a few quieter moments together, and perfect for capturing those epic group shots.

Spots for Couple Portraits Around Duke of York

★ Preston Circus  Right outside the cinema. Big streets, movement, buses, colour and that unmistakable Brighton energy. Best for lively, just-married moments.

★ The cinema frontage  The iconic Duke of York’s exterior is a must. Bold, recognisable and perfect for a few quick shots before heading off.

★ London Road vibe  If you want something more urban and a bit gritty, London Road delivers. Street scenes, character and loads of personality.

★ Roof terrace at Duke of York’s  Don’t skip this! It’s brilliant for group shots, relaxed portraits and a slightly different angle without going anywhere.

★ Backstreets nearby  Stroll hand in hand through the quieter roads and little pockets of calm that balance out the buzz of the circus.

★ Spontaneous Brighton moments  Some of the best photos happen in between when you’re just being yourselves.

Duke of York Wedding Venue Hire

Top Tips for your Duke of York Wedding

★   Plan a fun exit  Confetti, a conga, a big cheer. Duke of York’s suits a bold exit, so go for it.

★   Don’t over-style it  You really don’t need much here. The space already does a lot of the work for you.

★   Use the roof terrace  Perfect for group shots, fresh air and a quick pause in the day.

★   Popcorn for guests  Lean into the cinema theme and hand out popcorn to your guests. It’s fun, unfussy and always goes down well, plus it makes for great photos.

★   Use the screen  Have a bit of fun with it and project something onto the cinema screen. A short film, old photos, favourite movie clips or even a few inside jokes adds a personal touch and really makes the most of the space.
